WySQL is a handy CLI-like web console interface that helps with remote database management when telnet/ssh is not accessible. This software, which is written in PHP4, has a web/sql toolset and supports multiple database management systems (currently MySQL and PostgreSQL). Furthermore, it keeps a history and playback of previous commands and scripts.
The configuration of DBMS, host, user, password, and database name could be forced or selected/entered in the control panel. Although the software does not aim to replace other products that offer better user-friendly interfaces, it works exceptionally well for nostalgic command-line interface lovers.
The software also features a dbms abstraction driver that can be widely used in other products, such as WyCSV, WyForm plug-ins, and WyCode.
The latest version of WySQL fixes several problems that existed in the V2 beta version. The previous version continued to use the V1 console, and the V2 console was not tested. Additionally, the class constructor was misspelled, and no initialization was performed. Although it had no impact on the console, it was concerning. The session handling has been rearranged in the latest update to ensure that it works even if the session_autostart and register_globals settings are different. Finally, the console (dbms) prompt was not displayed in the previous version of the software.
