It supports varied modes such as 8, 15, 16, 24, and 32 bits on any libggi target that offers a pixellinear Directbuffer. One of its standout features is the ability to connect multiple machines to an X cluster, with each machine accelerating the rendering of its individual display.
Despite being created from X.org sources, XGGI is not an X.org server, and code from hw/xfree86 isn't utilized. As a result, the /etc/XF86Config file is ignored entirely. To use this software, GGI 2.2 is required.
The latest release of XGGI is based on Xorg X11R7.0 and contains multiple new features, including IPv6 support and mouse wheel functionality. Additionally, backing store is now 100% accelerated, and many window operations are expedited. New hardware and operating systems are now supported as well.
