Xoria256 is a colorscheme designed for Vim that supports 256-color terminals. This heavily modified 'moria' color scheme has been developed to be IDE-compliant, with blue statements, gray comments, and yellowish strings, constants, and numbers. The colors look almost identical in vim, running in any modern terminal emulator, such as recent versions of xterm or konsole, and in GTK2 GUI.

Vim is a text editor initially developed by Bram Moolenaar in 1991 for the Amiga computer, offering many additional features to vi with the intention of being helpful in editing program source code. Vim is cross-platform but most popular on Unix-like operating systems, and it is free and open-source software under a software license compatible with the GNU General Public License, including some charityware clauses.

Unlike menus or icons, Vim's interface is based on commands given in a text user interface, and its GUI mode, gVim, includes menus and toolbars for commonly used commands. Still, Vim's full functionality is expressed through its command line mode. Although learning Vim may be difficult and slow initially, once the basics are understood, users progress quickly, and editing becomes more efficient. Vim has a built-in tutorial for beginners, and the Vim Users' Manual details basic and more advanced Vim features, which can be read from within Vim or found online. Vim also has a built-in help facility using the :help command, allowing users to query and navigate through commands and features.

Xoria256 requires Vim and has received a recent release with small fixes for 'Number,' 'Identifier,' and 'Special' highlights. However, the developer still not satisfied with the scheme, call for the public's ideas on how the scheme could be improved in their opinion.
