The XPL editor is an Eclipse-based RCP software that utilizes the eXtensible Presentation Language. This language is built on Visual Design Patterns and is xml-based, which enables designers to present contents on various channels depending on user typologies. The goal of this language is to provide designers with a representation concept that covers web, mobile, GUI, multimodal interface, and printable format needs.
XPL, developed by Engineering Ingegneria Informatica S.p.A, was created with the aim of making it much easier to present contents supplied from web-based services in thematic networks that are ontologically described. XPL is made up of a few essential patterns of visualization that constitute the structure of the document.
