YOURI

The YOURI software is a package management framework that stands for "Youri Offers an Upload & Repository Infrastructure". The aim of this project is to create tools that will make it easy to manage a coherent set of packages. Running a package distribution project can be a lot of work, involving tasks such as allowing individual maintainers to upload packages to a central repository, creating packages index for package managers like urpmi or yum, synchronizing development resources like CVS or bugzilla, advertising new packages, signing packages numerically, checking individual packages' consistency, checking global repository consistency, and more.

In the past, administrators have used a quick'n'dirty approach using dedicated shell scripts with hardcoded distributer-specific policies. However, this has generally resulted in a maintenance nightmare for admins and a discrepancy nightmare for users. YOURI provides a solution to this issue by creating a generic package management framework that is focused on code reusability and modularity.

To use YOURI, you must have Perl installed on your server. Installing YOURI is easy, simply run the following commands: "perl Makefile.PL make make test". Overall, YOURI is a valuable software option for individuals and companies looking to effectively manage their package distribution projects.
