The 3dfx TV Out Tool is a software designed for 3dfx VooDoo3 cards that emulates the popular 'TV Tool'. Its aim is to provide similar functionalities to improve TV output for users.
To get started with the software, you need to type 'make' or 'make all' commands which will create an executable '3dfx_tvtool'. After executing the program, you need to load the appropriate modules.
If you have built it into the kernel, then you do not have to load the modules again. Moreover, it is recommended to patch your lm_sensors for optimum results. Two patches for the lm_sensors package are available in the 'extra' directory, which you must apply; otherwise, luma (brightness) and chroma (color) control buttons may disappear.
To check the status of luma and chroma, load the modules and look for a luma and a chroma entry in /proc. You can use Colorbars On/Off, TV Out On/Off, TSC/PAL controls to tune your settings.
The Re-apply button updates the kernel with your settings if you have made changes too fast. Similarly, the Save button saves your current kernel settings to the default save file, and the Load button loads your default file and applies its settings to the kernel.
Report any bugs to [email protected] along with any feedback or contributions which can be sent to the developer. The software requires GTK 2.0.2 and a video card using the BT869 chip that creates a '/proc/sys/dev/sensors/bt869' entry or similar.
Additionally, a TV is required to test the software. The new release includes rewritten Load/save algorithms and four new buttons added. The Luma en Chroma (anti) pseudogamma Removal button also comes with a warning. The latest lm_sensors files patches are also included, since luma and chroma are not available in the 2.6.3 release.
Moreover, the layout has been changed to accommodate more buttons, and the pal/ntsc button has been converted from a toggle to radio buttons. Multi-language support has also been added, and the developer is looking for translators. Help and about options have also been added to the software.
