7Canaries Standard is a software that converts polyphonic music to MIDI sequences in various audio formats. It lacks an interactive Note Editor, unlike the more advanced 7Canaries Professional version.
One of the great things about 7Canaries Standard is its ability to recognize pre-recorded music which then allows you to convert digital sound to a MIDI format. This is useful because MIDI files take up hundreds of times less space than any digital sound format, making it perfect for use as a melody for your web page or a preview of your mp3 Internet music collection. As a layout of music, the MIDI file allows you to change its arrangement in contrast to digital sound. You can easily modify the instruments, number of voices, or melody itself using any third-party score editor to create remixes, variations, and print musical notation. You can even put the melody on your mobile phone!
7Canaries Standard is also useful for on-fly recognition, which is a process performed in real-time without any noticeable delay. Detected notes can be recorded, played in real-time, or both. You can even change instruments in real-time, allowing you to play the guitar and get piano sound.
The software comes with four different note detection algorithms and a number of filtering options that lets you leave aside odd notes. Monophonic methods provide recognition of one (the loudest) voice in melody but with great accuracy. Polyphonic method transcribes several voices. However, unlike 7Canaries Professional, 7Canaries Standard does not contain an interactive Note Editor.
Overall, 7Canaries Standard is a great software for automatic recognition of polyphonic music files, and its real-time mode and on-the-fly recognition make it stand out from other software in the market. The ability to convert digital sound to a MIDI format and modify it using third-party score editors is a great plus.
