The 80s Moviebot is a software that generates random quotes from classic eighties films. It simulates a conversation with a user, providing them with a taste of nostalgia from popular movies of that era.
One of the things I appreciated most about Moviebot is that it not only shows the film title and director, but also the year of release. Additionally, each film is linked to its corresponding page on IMDB, making it easy to look up additional information or dive deeper into the film's trivia.
As of my latest use of the software, the number of quotes in the database had just passed 700, but there's no sign of slowing down. The creators of the software are constantly feeding new videos into the Moviebot's repertoire for it to digest and add to its database. It's exciting to see the quote count increase in real-time on the back of the widget, and the best part is that anyone is welcome to contribute to the growing collection if they have a beloved line they don't see already included.
I should note that the software is rated PG-13 due to some of the quote content, though I haven't come across anything particularly concerning in my time using it. Overall, I can confidently recommend Moviebot to any fellow eighties cinema enthusiasts out there looking for a fun and convenient way to show off their knowledge and enjoy the best quotes from the era.
