ABKey is a plugin that enables Apple's Address Book to have a user-friendly interface for managing GnuPG key information of contacts. With ABKey, users can easily access, modify and update key information for their contacts.
ABKey has a unique feature that enhances the Address Book by providing users with the ability to see which of their contacts have current, revoked, and expired keys. This feature also provides more detailed information on request, making it easier for users to manage their contacts' details. Moreover, the plugin works perfectly with newer versions of GPGMail to give users per-contact control over signing and encryption preferences.
With ABKey, users can specify particular contacts for which they wish to encrypt or sign emails always. This per-contact preference adds an extra layer of security for users who may deal with sensitive information or data. Although Apple's Address Book offers centralized management of contacts' details, it was previously essential to use different applications to manage their GPG keys.
It's important to note that this plugin is still in early development, and significant additions and changes are in the pipeline, including vCard key support and key editing. ABKey is released under the Artistic License and has some essential requirements. Users need to have GPG 1.4.x or later and GPGMail version d38.1 or higher (for per-contact preference support).
