License: Free To Try $49.99
Operating System: Windows
The program can be used to partition your hard drive and manage the contents.
The program is a suite because it comes with a number of specialized tools for working on your hard drive. With the Partition Expert you can actually move, resize, split, and even merge partitions.
And what's really cool is that you will not lose data in the process. Slick!
Acronis Disk Director Suite even makes it easy to run more than one operating system from your hard drive. This is what you'll sometimes hear called a "dual boot system".
Imagine being able to boot to Windows or to Linux depending on what you wanted to do. The functionality of Acronis Disk Director Suite allows you to create a dual boot system to significantly facilitate computing.
Another module of the suite is the Recovery Expert which you can use should you accidentally delete a partition. Not long ago I had an entire partition just suddenly disappear and I used this program to get it back in a snap.
Acronis Disk Director Suite has an intuitive user interface and is very easy-to-use. I really like the feature to merge two partitions into one partition. Why?
Well because it lets you leave all your data in place, which is such a time-saver. So, for example, say you had a drive D and a drive E. You could "merge" everything from drive E into an expanded drive D.
Or, you can do the opposite and take one, large drive and split it into two drives. Nicely done!
Version build 2239: Split partitions, Merge partitions, Explore partitions, Boot from an additional hard disk drive, Boot from CD/DVD, Automatic operating system detection.
Version 10.0: Split and merge partitions leaving the data intact
