Adept Project is a software interface for KDE that enables access to the Advanced Packaging Tool through a graphical user interface.
One of the significant advantages of using Adept is its customizable package list filter, which makes it easier for users to locate files. With drag-and-drop filtering based on debtags, searching for packages has never been easier.
Additionally, Adept boasts a package browser that displays detailed information about a particular package, along with package relations and file lists. Though currently rough, the sources.list editor is available for editing sources.
For ease of monitoring downloads and installations, the software provides handy progress meters. The change review and status toolbar also help users to keep tabs on the most recent changes made to files.
There is a simplified interface for updating a user's system using the adept updater. Users can efficiently manage their installed applications with the adept installer. The system-tray update notification icon in the adept notifier allows users to keep track of system updates.
Recent updates to Adept include the removal of the apt-index-watcher dependency and fixes made to the build order in both adept/Makefile.am and kubuntu_upgrader/Makefile.am. Simple-patchsys.mk is now enabled in debian/rules. Overall, Adept is a great piece of software that makes package management and system updating more manageable for KDE users.
