The AIR Application Descriptor Manager is a software tool that provides users with the ability to create and manage application descriptor files for Adobe Air applications. It simplifies the process of configuring and deploying applications to different platforms, making it easier to distribute software to a wider audience.
Some may argue that a tool to edit a simple XML file falls into the realm of over-engineering, however, for developers who regularly encounter build failures due to a typo, or forgotten syntax rules, ADM can be a lifesaver. I've personally used ADM for my own applications (and yes, ADM was built using ADM), and now the idea of editing XML files as plain text is completely unpalatable.
For those unfamiliar with Adobe AIR, the Adobe AIR runtime enables Adobe AIR applications to be deployed on computers and devices running the Linux operating system. Additionally, Adobe Flex Builder for Linux can be used to build rich internet applications that deploy to the desktop and run across multiple operating systems using widely-used web technologies.
