The Adobe Disable VM Buffering plug-in is designed to eliminate pauses in Photoshop by disabling Virtual Memory buffering. It ensures a smooth and uninterrupted workflow for users working on large image files.
The Adobe Disable VM Buffering plug-in offers an excellent opportunity for Photoshop to utilize more than 4GB of RAM while increasing performance in handling large documents. Therefore, it is essential to note that when the scratch file buffering is turned on with Mac OS X v.10.3 or 10.4, the operating system halts the execution of Photoshop periodically, resulting in some delay. This delay can cause a few problems, especially when painting.
Fortunately, installing the plug-in can disable the buffering, ensuring that Photoshop does not pause during painting. However, bear in mind that disabling the buffering means that Photoshop can only utilize the 3.5GB RAM, leading to a decrease in performance when handling significant documents. It is essential to note that when handling large documents with no problems with pauses during painting, we do not recommend installing this plug-in.
For optimal performance, you will need Adobe Photoshop CS2 (all language versions).
