AFROS Live CD is a compact bootable CD featuring a selection of GNU/Linux software, along with ARAnyM and the AFROS platform.
The ARAnyM plus AFROS software is integrated seamlessly and boots straight to the Teradesk (GEM desktop) after PowerOn. The ISO image file can be burnt on a CD-R/RW and provides an exact copy of the AFROS Live CD created on the machine. The AFROS Live CD is distributed in this form, which is the usual way of distributing CDs electronically.
Although it is not the dream Installation CD of ARAnyM yet, AFROS Live CD is meant as a demo version of ARAnyM/AFROS. It can be modified to work as an Installation CD of ARAnyM in the future. Changes to ARAnyM config must be done outside of ARAnyM in the .aranym/config file as the ARAnyM Config GUI is unfinished yet. Config modifications can be made with one of the supplied GNU/Linux editors after quitting ARAnyM.
AFROS Live CD configuration can be done through fVDI resolution and/or color depth change. The C:FVDI.SYS file needs to be edited by commenting out the "01r aranym.sys mode 800x600x16@72" line and uncommenting one of the other prepared lines or crafting a new one. The AFROS disk image or ARAnyM configuration should be preserved by following the guidelines on the DSL site.
In conclusion, AFROS Live CD is a great software to try out the AFROS and ARAnyM software. The software runs seamlessly from CD and provides autoboot, automatic hardware detection, and support for many graphics cards, sound cards, SCSI, USB devices, and other peripherals. Although it is not the Installation CD of ARAnyM yet, it is meant as a demo version and can be modified in the future.
