After installation, a new menu option called "Read [Language Name]!" is added to Internet Explorer. This menu performs the same functions as "Read it!" and "Speak It!" from the Agent PowerToy for IE.
Web developers can also include support for this PowerToy in their pages, providing users with a more interactive experience beyond simply reading the web page. This is achieved by presenting the page to the user with a character instead of voice-only delivery. Currently, the software supports 11 languages.
One of the primary advantages of using an animated character to read a webpage is that it has a more familiar effect on viewers. With character delivery coupled with audio readings, many people can benefit from this method of information delivery, including visually-impaired individuals and those who are illiterate. Plus, children find it entertaining, and students learning a second language can get an extra boost from this software. Even tech-savvy individuals will find enjoyment in having such a geeky toy at their disposal.
