Aggregate is a software that helps to combine multiple CIDR networks into one large network. It serves as a useful tool for simplifying network administration and management.
One of the best features of this tool is that it has filters that allow you to limit the maximum and minimum prefix length of the output. This is incredibly useful in cases where you need to ignore networks with a prefix longer than 24 bits, which means those smaller than a traditional Class C network.
When installing the software, you'll be using a configure shell script that guesses values for system-dependent variables used during installation. It then creates a Makefile in each directory of the package, as well as a script config.status that lets you recreate the current configuration, a config.cache file that comes in handy for faster reconfiguring, and a config.log file that stores compiler output. You can edit or remove the config.cache file as needed.
The latest release of Aggregate fixes an out by one error in the aggregation of network ranges. Overall, Aggregate comes highly recommended for its ability to read and output multiple formats while giving you maximum control over what network lengths you want to output.
