This software is a comprehensive geocaching tool designed for Linux users. It offers advanced features such as mapping, filtering, and integration with GPS devices, making it an ideal choice for outdoor adventurers and treasure hunters.
To use AGTL, start by going to the "opt." tab in order to enter your geocaching.com login credentials. This will enable you to view the current map and all geocaches located nearby. Prior to viewing geocaches, it is required that you download them. This can easily be done by clicking on the fourth button. This specific function only downloads the geocache positions that are visible within the map view. If you require further details regarding a specific geocache, simply visit the details tab or use the download tab. In the event that there are over 500 geocaches located within the selected map rectangle, nothing will be downloaded, so it is important to zoom in or select a different rectangle.
Once you have selected a geocache, it is important to note that it will appear on the screen with one of its waypoints on the right-hand side of the screen (details must be downloaded to see this). Geocaches themselves are color-coded to help differentiate between them, with green representing traditional geocaches, orange for multi-stage geocaches, gray for geocaches that you have previously found, and blue for everything else, including unknown, virtual, event, and webcam geocaches.
For added convenience, AGTL includes a button that will always keep the map centered on your current position. Although it is still possible to move the map around, your GPS position must remain unchanged. All in all, AGTL is an excellent geocaching software that boasts a plethora of useful features that are sure to enrich your geocaching experience.
