AIME is a C++-based MUD engine designed with Object Oriented Programming principles.
At the same time, the AIME engine aims to provide players a complex world that is fairly straightforward to get into but allows for increasing complexity as the player progresses. In this release of AIME, there are many improvements and bug fixes made to make the engine more efficient and easy to use. For example, the new release includes better handling for proper noun grammar, added shutdown confirmation to avoid inadvertent mistakes, and fixed the bug with HideCommands that gave the full command when users typed abbreviations.
The new release also includes support for actions done to self, game port spectating and snooping, follow and lose capability added for players, and added a helplog function to log help requests that did not have help files associated. Moreover, the code has a better pointer tracking system to help prevent pointers from pointing to garbage and added keepalive packets to help detect lost connections. In this new version, timeout messages indicate timeout instead of quit, and the engine will check for help files before command entries to make it easier for players to find what they need.
Overall, if you're looking for a flexible and fully-functional MUD engine with an OO design, AIME project is the right choice to consider.
