This theme provides a sleek and practical design for GNOME desktop users. Its user-friendly interface enhances the overall aesthetics of the desktop.
To use the Alif theme, you need to have the Xfce engine (gtk-engines-xfce) already installed on your system. This engine should be available in your distribution's repository. Special thanks are given to Franz Klammer and Daniel Farrell for their exceptional work on the Brace Metacity theme.
Installing the Alif theme is quite straightforward. Right-click on your desktop and select Change Desktop Background. Click on the first tab labeled Theme and drag and drop the theme's archive into the Appearance Preferences window. Assuming everything went well, you will receive a confirmation message, and the theme can be activated by just clicking on it.
It's worth mentioning that GNOME is an international effort to build a complete desktop environment that is entirely based on free software. This includes the creation of software development frameworks, the selection of application software for the desktop, as well as working on the programs that handle application launching, file handling, and window and task management. GNOME is part of the GNU Project and can be used with various Unix-like operating systems, most notably Linux, and as part of Java Desktop System in Solaris.
The GNOME project emphasizes simplicity, usability, and making things "just work," all of which are central to the Alif theme.
