A desktop environment customization that provides a sleek, black appearance for GNOME users.
The installation process for Amaranta suite is very simple. To get started, simply right-click on your desktop and select Change Desktop Background. From there, click on the first tab labeled Theme and then drag and drop the theme's archive in the Appearance Preferences window. If everything works correctly, you will receive a confirmation message and then can activate the theme with just a single click.
For those new to the software, GNOME is the underlying desktop environment that Amaranta suite is built upon. GNOME is an international project dedicated to creating a complete desktop environment using entirely free and open-source software. This includes creating software development frameworks, selecting application software for the desktop, and working on the programs which manage application launching, file handling, and window and task management.
GNOME works with various Unix-like operating systems, including most notably Linux and as part of Java Desktop System in Solaris. The name originally stood for GNU Network Object Model Environment, but this acronym is no longer used. The GNOME project puts heavy emphasis on simplicity, usability, and making things "just work" – all of which are apparent in Amaranta suite's user-friendly installation and customization process.
