Introducing a new GNOME desktop dark theme.
GNOME is an international effort to build a complete desktop environment, which is essentially the graphical user interface that sits on top of a computer operating system. The project is committed to building the environment entirely from free software. This goal encompasses creating software development frameworks, selecting application software for the desktop, and working on the programs that handle application launching, file handling, and window and task management.
GNOME is part of the GNU Project and can be used with a variety of Unix-like operating systems, most notably Linux, and as part of Java Desktop System in Solaris. The acronym for GNOME originally stood for GNU Network Object Model Environment, but this acronym is now deprecated. The focus of the GNOME project is on simplicity, usability, and making things “just work”. If you are looking for a visually striking and easy-to-use theme for GNOME, Amethyst is an excellent choice.
