ANPOP is a software component that lets you fetch emails from a server using the POP3 protocol and parse them using MIME.
ANPOP is a collection of two COM objects, namely the POPMAIN object and the POPMSG object, each with their own unique roles. The POPMAIN object is responsible for retrieving email from the mail server, while the POPMSG object is tasked with parsing the email structure.
With the POPMAIN object, developers can use all of the features provided by the POP3 protocol, including the GetHeader method, which enables the retrieval of headers from the mail server. This functionality makes it easy to preview email headers such as the subject, sender, and other information before downloading the full email body from the server.
The POPMSG object, on the other hand, offers rich functions for parsing email and abstracting specific information such as the subject, sender, date, recipients, and attachments. It can effectively parse multiple parts of the message body, and automatically decodes message parts that are encoded by base64 or quoted-printable.
In the newest version, ANPOP now fully supports asynchronous operating mode and event firing, which makes it even more flexible and user-friendly. Overall, ANPOP is an excellent COM solution that can help developers easily retrieve and parse email from POP3 mail servers.
