Aranha server monitor is a tool with a XUL graphical user interface. It uses rrdtool and XML-RPC to monitor servers.
Data is collected in Round Robin Databases, thanks to the software’s integration with rrdtool. Users can access their collected data via a XUL interface available on the system. The icing on the cake is that Aranha’s plugins are incredibly easy to write, making it highly customizable.
Configuration of this module is a breeze. Users can either pass specific configuration values to the Makefile.PL by running the “perl Makefile.PL CONFIG_VAR=‘config val’” command, or simply edit the FAULTS variable on the top-level Makefile.PL.
Installing Aranha is no rocket science either. Simply type in the following commands: “perl Makefile.PL,” “make,” “make test,” and “make install.” Aranha is a great investment for anyone who targets information gathering from multiple servers.
