The ATI Radeon X800 XT ROM Update is a software update for the X800 XT Mac Edition graphics card. It improves performance and stability.
The latest ROM version 109 (in this release) manages to fix the rare occurrence of corruption or hang for specific instances. A built-in Firmware Fan control has been provided in the card's firmware to maintain its original fan control with and without the presence of the ATI ROM Xtender file. It's recommended for all RADEON X800 XT MAC EDITION cards. Before now, users had reported the loss of fan control after mistakenly losing the ATI ROM Xtender in the System's Extension folder. Fan control is enabled early in the boot process and maintained with or without the extension file present. To re-install the extension file, simply run the original RADEON X800 MAC EDITION installation CD, this update or a newer ATI web released driver update.
To use the June 2005 ROM installer, you'll need a Mac OS X 10.3.5 or later and also the retail RADEON X800 XT Mac EDITION. The upgrade sounds sweet, but you'll have to make sure your computer meets up with the necessary requirements. Overall, the June 2005 ROM installer is an excellent addition to RADEON X800 XT MAC EDITION. It guarantees to add much-needed upgrades to your system and provide you with a stable and reliable performance.
