AudioLink simplifies and quickens the search process for music on your device's storage media.
Initially, AudioLink was developed to handle audio files. However, subsequent versions will be capable of searching for content in HTMLs, PDFs, PSs, and other file formats. This project sprouted from the need to search for files on a local machine, including music and other stored information in .txt, .html, .pdf formats. The fundamental goal of AudioLink is to make it easier to search for content on local file systems, which differ from other search tools that only look for files, not content.
AudioLink is a tool for you if you are in search of an efficient and personalized way to search for music and a specific artist, genre, or band. You cannot use traditional tools like grep to search for songs or a particular artist. With this software, you can easily search for the music you want using its personalized and easy-to-use search criteria. The software is set to be further improved upon to include a LAN crawler, which will sniff on NFS, SMB, FTP, among other protocols, to collect information on the files residing on other machines as well.
AudioLink's latest release has brought some key changes to the software. The code for alsearch and alfilldb has been updated and improved upon, allowing command-line args to override config file options. The printed statements have also been cleaned up, while a verbose mode has been added to the program. AudioLink now defaults to localhost for the host field, while Debian packaging has been done, and rpms will be done soon.
Overall, AudioLink is an excellent tool for anyone looking for an efficient means of searching and managing their music collection. Its customizable search criteria, customizable GUIs, and other features make it easy to use and highly efficient.
