Austhex IRCD is a popular chat application that serves as the IRC daemon for Austnet. It allows users to connect and communicate in real-time with their peers on Austnet's IRC servers.
A notable difference can be found in the "TimeStamped channel description" protocol, which is exclusive to Austhex IRCD. However, thanks to the TSora servers keeping track of neighboring servers' TS protocols, seamless integration of TS servers into a non-TS network is possible. This also enables upgrades of the protocol if required.
The software also helps with nick-kill handling, similar to what was implemented by Run on Undernet. Each server knows its highest and lowest TS protocol version as well. Currently, both versions are set to 1, where the highest version that can be used is defined as "#define TS_CURRENT 1" and the lowest version as "#define TS_MIN 1."
Overall, the Austhex IRCD is a stable and unique IRC daemon worth considering for use on Austnet, especially if you need the Timestamp feature.
