Autocrypt automates the process of creating encrypted disk mappings with a rootplug feature for improved security.
Consider a scenario where you work for a company that deals with sensitive data. You might not want to encrypt your home using pam crypt because you don't want to set up your workspace every time you come back. This means you can't use a screensaver to prevent someone from accessing your data while you're logged in. A malicious hacker can log into your box via the network and access your data while you're logged in. While you could manually create the cryting device and mount and umount them as needed, this requires root privilege.
With Autocrypt, you can use a special identification device or "key" to do it for you. This solution uses USB keys/drives to create the unencrypted devices when the key is plugged in and removes it safely when the device is disconnected. Overall, Autocrypt provides a user-friendly and secure way to encrypt your hard drive without requiring tedious manual work.
