AVM ETS is a set of shell scripts integrated into a Slax Linux live distribution.
At the company I am currently employed in, AVM ETS lived up to its task and helped save a lot of money, while making life easier for people in the field. Moreover, it has gained popularity in many European countries for Ethernet Private Line validation testing.
AVM ETS is made up of simple scripts that effectively get the job done. The live Linux distribution used is Slax, with Fluxbox instead of KDE, making the tool light and the ISO small. The throughput test scripts use the excellent Iperf tool to measure performance, and the live statistics are done with Conky. Best of all, all software used in AVM ETS is 100% OpenSource.
The software tool was built by Alain Van Messen. He has been working in the ICT business for over a decade, mostly in network troubleshooting functions. The need for a cheap, easy, and effective tool gave birth to this linux distribution.
AVM ETS can be used for a variety of purposes, including point to point packet loss measurement, measuring packet loss against any IP device, measuring packet loss on a routed IP network, measuring point to point UDP and TCP throughput, and measuring UDP and TCP throughput on a routed IP network. It is an excellent tool that can help save a lot of money while making network troubleshooting and validation processes much easier.
