aWebDap is an intuitive web interface for OpenLDAP version 2, providing users with a user-friendly and highly adaptable front-end to complete a variety of web-based management tasks.
Additionally, aWebDap supports LDAP URL's that interface with MS/Outlook address books while maintaining native LDAP server capabilities. With vCARD capability, aWebDap works seamlessly with personal organizer applications, some cell phones, and the old Netscape 4.X address books.
Unlike other web front-ends, the user doesn't have to be technical to navigate aWebDap's interface effectively. It was intended for the non-techie user and designed to be intuitive, so your mother could use it!
The aWebDap system operates via a CGI executable, consisting of three files (1) an executable that is placeable in the "/cgi-bin" directory (2) an HTML form that interfaces with the CGI, and (3) a configuration file that fully configures /etc/awebdap.conf. The power and flexibility of aWebDap lie in the configuration file. Its users can enjoy a fully-featured web presentation for web browsers and a low-weight presentation for PDA and cell phone web access.
Lastly, it also supports secure https connections, ensuring your information is safe and secure. Overall, aWebDap is a must-have software for anyone with an LDAP address directory server.
