Backgammon is a game where two players aim to remove all of their checkers from the board before the opponent. The game requires strategy and luck, and is played on a board with distinct sections.
To begin, the first step is to set up the backgammon board. Once you're ready to start, sit opposite your opponent with the board between you.
To determine who gets to move first, throw a single die. If both players get the same number, roll again. After determining who moves first, move according to the roll of the dice, but remember that you must use both dice to determine your first move.
Number the points 1 through 24, starting with the point on the upper right-hand corner farthest away from you. Move in a counterclockwise direction and notice your opponent moving counterclockwise as well.
Move only onto open points, and be sure not to move onto points with two or more opposing checkers. Move checkers separately or in pairs, and move all the pips shown on the dice. Play the larger number if you can only use one of the two numbers or as many of the doubles.
If you hit a blot, place your opponent's checker on the bar. Finally, commence bearing off when you've moved all of your checkers into the home board quadrant. With these simple steps, you'll be able to play Backgammon with ease!
