Ballistics is an extremely fast-paced racing game, labeled as the fastest of its kind.
The races themselves have their roots in Formula One, but with the use of electronic enhancers, the pilots' reflexes are much faster than those of ordinary humans. These pilots don G-suits and compete in high-tech scenarios all over the world, taking on challenges in places such as the Belize jungle, the Grand Canyon, and the city center of future Houston. The tracks are characterized by curved and twisted track surfaces, made possible by the use of tunnels.
Speeders are high-tech hoverbikes with magnetic repel units that keep them afloat within the track. A magnetic field is generated near the track walls to keep the Speeders in the air or attached to it just a few millimeters from the wall. Being a Speeder pilot has its pros and cons, including fame and cash rewards, but also the risk of high-speed impacts with concrete walls.
The product's release is scheduled for May 31, 2007, and the system requirements are as follows: Operating System 2.2.x or better Linux kernel with glibc-2.1 or later and X-Windows (XFree86 3.3.5 or later), Processor 500 MHz x86 Processor, Memory 160 MB, Disc Space 1.1 GB, CD Rom 4 x CD Rom, Graphics Card Hardware Accelerated 3D Graphics card with 32 MB video memory, and Sound Card OSS or ALSA Compatible.
This release includes fixes to config setting saving and the saving of screen sizes at 640x480 on first load. Overall, Ballistics is an impressive and fast-paced game that promises to take you on a wild ride.
