Banteng is a JavaScript IDE that is cross-platform and visually oriented.
The 0.1.1 release includes the core runtime engine and some basic examples to help users get started. However, in order to use Banteng effectively, developers must meet certain requirements. Specifically, they need to have Gtk 2.2.1-4, Atk 1.2.0-2, Glib 2.2.1-1, Pango 1.2.1-3, and Freetype 2.1.3-6 installed.
One of the great new features in this release is the reorganized library naming conventions. Developers will also benefit from the use of the Program API to launch their browser from demo, added support for FormAttachment to BantengForm object, and standalone processes for running examples without modifications.
Additionally, Banteng now features updated engine to SWT 3.1.1, Rhino 1.6R2, kXML 2.2.1, and Mac OS X now uses standard command line parameters. All in all, Banteng is an excellent tool for those who want to create powerful native desktop applications with ease.
