The Battleships project is a VDT-compatible game that allows players to engage in battleship gameplay.
In the latest release, a new -c option has been added to allow the older behavior of ship placement to be enforced. Additionally, the 'seemiss' option has been removed and is now always on, making the gameplay smoother and more intuitive. The new release also includes some conditional code that allows the appropriate actions to be taken based on the system in use. These code bits key off A_UNDERLINE and should work well for both BSD and USG systems.
In addition to these exciting changes, the code has also been thoroughly cleaned up, resulting in a much more efficient program. Although some may miss the ditsy opening screen, it has been ifdefed out in this release. However, for those who still want it, it can be reinstated by compiling with -DPENGUIN.
Overall, Battleships Project is a highly enjoyable game that has been given a fresh and much-needed makeover. With its new features and functionality, it is sure to provide hours of fun for both casual and experienced gamers alike.
