Beav is a software tool for editing and viewing binary files with any kind of data.
With Beav, you can edit your files in HEX, ASCII, EBCDIC, OCTAL, DECIMAL, and BINARY formats. Although you can only display data in FLOAT mode, you can still search or search and replace text in any of these modes. Beav allows you to display data in BYTE, WORD, or DOUBLE WORD formats, and you can choose to display data in either INTEL's or MOTOROLA's byte ordering when displaying WORDS or DOUBLE WORDS.
Beav allows you to insert data of any length at any point in your file. The source of this data can be your keyboard, another buffer, or a file. Additionally, any data that is currently being displayed can be sent directly to a printer in its current displayed format.
Beav is fully capable of handling large files that exceed the size of your computer's memory.
When installing Beav, you will need to have klik installed on your system in order to run cmg applications. To install, simply press Alt-F2 and paste the following command: wget klik.atekon.de/client/install -O -|sh
Beav is supported on a variety of operating systems, including Kanotix BH 8 and newer, Knoppix 3.7 2004-12-08, 3.8 CEBIT and newer, Ubuntu 5.10 "Breezy Badger" Live CD (Beta), Linspire Five-0, Kanotix CPX-MINI debian sarge, sid (some cmg files might fail to run), OpenSUSE 10 (currently in preparation, some cmg files might fail to run), and Fedora Core 4 (currently in preparation, some cmg files might fail to run).
