Bioknoppix is a modified version of Knoppix Linux Live CD designed for biological research purposes.
To run Bioknoppix, there are several requirements that must be met. First, you'll need an Intel-compatible CPU (i486 or later). Additionally, 20 MB of RAM for text mode is required, but at least 96 MB is needed for graphics mode with KDE. To make use of the various office products, it's recommended to have at least 128 MB of RAM. You'll also require a bootable CD-ROM drive or a boot floppy and standard CD-ROM (IDE/ATAPI or SCSI). Additionally, a standard SVGA-compatible graphics card and a serial or PS/2 standard mouse or IMPS/2-compatible USB-mouse are necessary.
The Bioknoppix project is being supported by the High-Performance Computing facility (HPCf) and the Puerto Rico Biomedical Research Infrastructure Network (BRIN-PR), which is a testament to its strong foundations. Overall, it is an excellent software that you can trust, especially if you are involved in molecular biology.
