This application is a book collection management tool for Mac OS X that organizes, categorizes and enables search functionalities of the collection information. Written in Cocoa, it is natively designed for the Mac.
The fiction catalog was arranged alphabetically by the author's last name and nonfiction books were arranged by subject or title. It made it easier to find all the novels published by Stephen King or all the books about astronomy, but not all the books published by Carl Sagan or all fiction about ghosts. Nowadays, there are fewer card catalogs left as libraries replaced them with computer workstations.
Books' cataloging program acts as both the librarian and patron. It enables users to manage their library of books and describe them the way they want. Books' primary objective is to aid users in cataloging and managing their book collection and to provide the resources to easily locate individual books and appreciate their personal library.
The transition to digital catalogs may have removed some nostalgic aspects but are beneficial to both librarians and patrons. Patrons can swiftly find books they want and card catalogs, including Books, help librarians monitor books on the shelves, who checked them out, and more. Books is a user-friendly software that streamlines the cataloging process and helps book collectors manage and enjoy their personal library.
