Breath of Fire is a console role-playing game developed by Capcom in 1993 for Super Famicom. It is the first entry in the Breath of Fire series. Known as Breath of Fire: The Dragon Warrior in Japan.
This RPG takes place in the aftermath of a great war between the Light and Dark Dragon clans, with the Light Dragons now hiding in small villages. The player takes control of Ryu, a young Light Dragon whose home is attacked one night by the Dark Dragons, who capture his sister. Thus begins Ryu's quest to rescue his sister and, along the way, unravel a mystery surrounding seven mystical keys that, in the wrong hands, could unlock a goddess of destruction.
Breath of Fire's storyline alone makes it a game worth playing, but it's also notable for its gameplay mechanics, which include turn-based battles, exploration, and even some puzzle-solving. Its re-release on Game Boy Advance also makes it accessible to modern players. Overall, Breath of Fire is a worthy addition to any RPG enthusiast's game library.
