Bug is a console-based tracking system that helps users keep track of issues. It requires only standard Unix commands and functions, making it simple to implement and manage.
The structure of Bug's database is in a text file format that contains simple tabbed columns, making manual editing straightforward. The software uses $EDITOR to enable users to submit, edit, change states or priorities, and handle other operations.
The database relies on four fixed fields, namely ID, Priority, State, and Subject, to facilitate effective tracking. Additionally, there is a fifth field for any other information that users may wish to store regarding the issue.
Bug has no database locking or notifications, making it the perfect tool for managing and following up on individual issues.
In this release, all bashisms have been eliminated to make the software compatible with POSIX sh. Upgrade today and leverage the new and improved features of Bug.
