The Calindor project is a server-based software that runs a Fantasy World Simulation, utilizing the Eternal Lands protocol. It allows users to explore and interact with the simulated world, creating an immersive experience for players.
The Eternal Lands is a well-known and widely popular MMORPG that comes with an open-source client and a closed source server. The Calindor project was started for three main reasons. The first was to learn about an architecture of a massive user, multi-threaded server software. The second was to create detailed models of fantasy worlds and evaluate how they will evolve by human or artificial interaction, and the third was to enable map makers to test their maps in live environments.
The newest release of the Calindor project brings a lot of new features to the table. With this release, about 95% of the 0.4.0 scope has been completed. The changes include implementing combat, which is asymmetric and allows for multiple fighters and PK. Additionally, damage during combat has been introduced, and you can gain experience during combat. There is also a combat mode for AI which adds to the excitement.
Server characters now have random combat skills and health, making the game even more unpredictable. The software received some refactoring, and default logging in the release mode has been limited. All of these updates have made Calindor project an even better and more exciting game to play. If you're a fan of fantasy worlds, then this game is a must-play.
