CarrelPatch is a software script that helps disable the DHCP/LDAP vulnerability. Within only a few clicks, the script can be executed, preventing any potential security threats that may arise from the vulnerability.
The workaround disables the vulnerability's access point, but it might not be suitable for everyone. For instance, you might not want to have to change Directory Access settings, or you may need to walk remote users through the process. With this in mind, a script is available that uses UI scripting to make the changes for you.
It's worth noting that this script only works on Panther, as it's the only OS release with UI scripting installed. Also, to use it, you must be able to authenticate as an administrator on any Mac you run it on.
If you meet these requirements, the script provides a way to quickly and easily address the vulnerability on your system. A recent release of the script includes an already-good flag to prevent erroneous messages. Thanks to Todd McDaniel for spotting this update.
