cdevour is a script tool that streamlines the CD ripping process, aiming to simplify the experience for the user.
One of the standout features of cdevour is that it retrieves all the necessary information about the CD from CDDB, including the album and artist names, and uses this information to automatically name the ripped files. The software also ejects the disc as soon as it's been ripped, ensuring a smooth and efficient CD ripping process.
If a CD has already been ripped, the software will eject it immediately, preventing any unnecessary duplicate files from taking up space on your computer. If there isn't enough disk space available to rip a CD, the software will simply queue it until enough space is freed up.
But cdevour doesn't stop there. In addition to ripping CDs, the software also has a separate encoding script which encodes files into Ogg Vorbis in the background. The encoded files are tagged and renamed, and another script can automatically move albums into a music directory.
One unique feature of cdevour is that it even applies cheese or peanut butter spread to discs if desired (although we're not sure how many people actually need this feature!) Overall, cdevour is a comprehensive CD ripping solution that streamlines the process and takes care of all the manual labor for you.
To use cdevour, you'll need to have cdparanoia, oggenc (or flac), CDDB_get 2.2 or better (which requires perl), eject, and cdctl installed on your computer. Additionally, if you want web-accessible stats, you'll need to have a running httpd (Apache). The latest release of cdevour includes several improvements, such as improved track-moving functionality and reduced verbosity.
