The CDriveBack software is a backup system that provides users with a reliable method for backing up their files and data, ensuring that they are protected against loss or corruption.
One example of the ease of use provided by CDriveBack is that backing up the C: drive to an area on the same drive only requires two steps. First, users must boot the CDriveBack CD, and then they simply hit enter to backup the C: drive. This provides users with a straightforward and intuitive backup process.
The CDriveBack system is designed as a Live CD that you can boot, with no need for installation. It runs on a recent version of the Linux operating system, version 2.6.x, and its dialog screens allow users to manage backup files on their drives. CDriveBack also uses DAR to backup the partition or drive to files while supporting both older versions of Windows and Linux formatted drives. The program uses the NTFS-3G package to manage NTFS drives.
The latest release includes bug fixes that have repaired several issues. One such issue makes a full restore from a backup area with no differential backup files ask for diff files with an awkward message. Documentation dates and releases were also updated, and the startup session screen no longer refers to the release candidate.
In addition to these improvements, an optional "Force" setting has also been added for mounting NTFS disks from a Windows using chkdsk, allowing users to call the partition "dirty" consistently. All in all, CDriveBack is a powerful and user-friendly backup solution that helps end-users protect their data effectively.
