CellWriter is a natural handwriting input panel with a grid-entry feature.
The best part about this software is that it relies solely on training samples of your characters for recognition. After a brief training period, the recognition engine is tailored to your unique way of writing. This makes the recognition rate for your writing very reliable. Keep in mind that CellWriter is writer-dependent, meaning that other writers may not be able to use it with your training data.
Another great feature of CellWriter is that it includes multiple levels of preprocessing algorithms that correct for input aberrations. Preprocessing helps to smooth out digitizer noise and matches inputs to training symbols drawn with different stroke order, direction, and/or number of strokes.
If you need to write in your native language or generate any Unicode character, CellWriter can be trained to do so.
In terms of requirements, CellWriter needs GTK+ >= 2.10.x, libgnome2-0, and libxtst6 to run.
Recently, the software developers fixed two memory leaks in the latest release. Overall, CellWriter is a useful and versatile tool for those who prefer natural handwriting input.
