CGI Calendar is a Perl-based appointment and event calendar software.
One of the fundamental features of CGI Calendar is its open-source licensing under the GPL. It is also possible to customize the user interface via HTML and Cascading Style Sheets. Events are displayed on the calendar and sorted by time, with each event having Summary, Time, Detail, and Location fields. The Detail and Location fields may contain HTML content. Events, including time and date, may be edited without requiring an SQL database.
CGI Calendar's easy configuration also makes it user-friendly. In most cases, only a single file needs to be edited. It also works from years A.D. 1 to A.D. 9999 and beyond.
The newest release has added several features that make it even easier to use. The update includes multiple database functionality improvements and repeating events. Additionally, a "group" metaphor has been introduced where each database is a separate group available via an optional drop-down menu on the calendar. An optional language drop-down menu has also been added, and web-based administration functionality for language and group settings is now available. Users can now set the default language or show/hide the language drop-down menu, add, delete, rename, or set default groups.
Finally, the HTML generated by CGI Calendar is now valid and fixes any display bugs in Opera. Overall, it's clear that CGI Calendar is an accessible, customizable, and reliable appointment/event calendar software.
