The Hobbit extension enables remote monitoring of SAP R3, BW, and Solution Manager services.
To install CheckMySAP, you need to obtain the three binaries from SAP - lgtst, rfcping, and startrfc - that should be located in '/usr/sap/SID/FOOBAR/exe/'. Once you find them on your SAP server, put them in '${BBHOME}/ext/checkmySAP/bin/' and make them executable (chmod) and owned by the Hobbit user (chown). Additionally, you need to put three extra libraries - libicudata.so.30, libicuuc.so.30, and libicui18n.so.30 - in '${BBHOME}/ext/checkmySAP/lib/'.
After installation, you need to add some lines to your 'hobbitlaunch.cfg' file. These lines are as follows:
[SAP]
ENVFILE /PATH/TO/HOBBIT/server/etc/hobbitserver.cfg
NEEDS hobbitd
CMD $BBHOME/ext/checkmySAP/checkmySAP.sh
LOGFILE $BBSERVERLOGS/checkmySAP.log
INTERVAL 5m
After editing the configuration file '${BBHOME}/ext/checkmySAP/checkmySAP.ini', you can customize it according to your needs. This file contains additional information on the header of 'checkmySAP.ini'.
You also need to edit your '${BBHOME}/etc/bb-hosts' file and add the keyword 'SAP' to the hosts you want to monitor. The host must have the same name in the 'checkmySAP.ini' and 'bb-hosts' files.
Once you've completed these steps, the 'SAP' icon should appear in less than 5 minutes, indicating that your SAP systems are being monitored by CheckMySAP. Overall, this software extension is easy to use and can help you save time in monitoring your SAP services.
