Checkpassword-pam is an authentication program that is built on the checkpassword protocol. It offers compatibility with the checkpassword standard to provide secure access control to users.
In its latest release, Checkpassword-pam has introduced a range of new features to enhance user experience. Firstly, the PAM_RHOST feature is now set to the value of TCPREMOTEIP. This is a major improvement as it is set by tcpserver, making it much more efficient.
The software also now uses service name in syslog instead of the hard-coded 'checkpassword-pam' value, which adds to its versatility. A new command-line option -H/--no-chdir-home has also been added which allows users to avoid being redirected to the user's home directory, which is useful when home directories are automounted but mail is being delivered to a central location. Special thanks to Christian Hudon for this feature.
Checkpassword-pam now runs on Autoconf 2.59 and Automake 1.7.9. This is an improvement as it adds to its compatibility with other programs, making it even more user-friendly. All in all, Checkpassword-pam is a highly effective and useful authentication program that adds value to any system with ease.
