ChemCalcsX provides easy access to all chemistry-related queries at the click of a button.
With its unique standardized interface, ChemCalcsX allows students to problem-solve questions in a logical and consistent manner, similar to techniques taught by chemistry educators. Questions are grouped conceptually and set out in a consistent manner, with progressively increasing difficulty levels. Users have access to hundreds of problems to solve, although the demonstration mode only allows for 2 questions per set.
The software saves progress, although it is disabled in the demonstration mode. The interface and menus are designed to resemble other commonly used applications, thereby offering ease of use. Users can track their progress as the percentage of answered questions is displayed within the software. The physical states of species are coloured for easy identification, and the tool design conforms to the logical layout of the concepts.
One limitation of ChemCalcsX is that the user is limited to either 2 questions or 10 problems per question set. Furthermore, users are unable to save or load their progress.
In summary, for students wishing to improve their knowledge of chemistry calculations and concepts, ChemCalcsX offers an intuitive system with a logical layout for conceptual problem-solving. With an easy-to-use interface, users can track their progress and solve hundreds of problems. However, the limitation of the number of questions and the inability to save progress may be a hindrance to some users.
