Chilli_applet is a tool that lets you create a GNOME panel applet through a script.
To activate the pop-up window feature, you must have another program called pgrompt. However, if you don't want to use the pop-up window, there are menu options in the applet's right-click menu that allow you to do the same things. The pop-up window feature is optional, so if you don't need it, you don't need pgrompt.
The smiley face icon can be edited to suit your preference, and it's easy to change what the applet displays. However, note that while this is an applet, it doesn't restart automatically. Therefore, you must ensure that it's running when you log in. Its position in your panel should be remembered.
Please take note that because the applet uses the perl-GTK (or Gtk-Perl?) perl modules, you need to download these modules as well.
