Cjukebox is a management system for audio files and playlists using python/curses technology. It offers an efficient way of organizing files and creating customized playlists.
One of the most exciting things about Cjukebox is its playback feature. This system is powered by Musicus tool, which supports all audio formats such as Ogg, Flac, MP3, MPC, Wav, and many others. Some of the key features of Cjukebox are two independent main windows that can be used for browsing files or editing playlists. The widths of the two windows can also be adjusted by the user.
Cjukebox also comes with various view modes that allow for different presentations of song listings. Additionally, the system supports various playback modes such as shuffling. Users can also create a "goodlist" where they save songs that they like into a special playlist with just a single key stroke. Similarly, the "Badlist" feature contains audio files that users never want to listen to, and songs can be added to it with a single key stroke.
Moreover, users can immediately load and play up to ten predefined playlists with a single keystroke using the Playlist Hotkey. Cjukebox also provides users with play history which provides complete access to all songs they have listened to during the current session. Users can also obtain song name/artist/album/time information from freedb records, and embedded tags for most audio formats are supported via musicus.
Lastly, Cjukebox allows users to present information about the song currently playing and other events using an arbitrary external program, thanks to the info hook feature. In the latest release, the problem of inserting into an empty playlist was fixed. Overall, Cjukebox is an excellent tool for anyone who wants to manage their audio files and playlists efficiently.
