This software is a set of command-line tools designed for power users, website admins, and professionals operating on Windows and UNIX platforms.
Among its features, CommandPack offers 'Batchrun' to perform the same command on a set of files that match a wildcard. The 'Cal' tool brings up a calendar for a specific month, and 'CloseCD' is provided to easily close the CD drive.
With 'Df', users are able to see the disk usage statistics of their local drives including any mounted network drives. The 'Du' utility displays disk usage data for a given digital directory tree. Additionally, 'Filefind' enables users to see a list of files which match a given wildcard, while 'Finger' retrieves user information from an Internet finger server.
Command Pack contains several other handy tools, such as 'Fileversion' which shows the Windows file version information of a file. For finding a pattern with regular expressions, there is 'Grep'. For those using Windows NT, 'Rnet' provides the ability to start, stop, or view services on local and remote PCs. 'Tail' allows users to check the last X lines of a file, including a follow command to view any new lines as they are created, making it perfect for log file activity monitoring. Additionally, 'Tree' is provided to show directory tree structure lists.
Lastly, Command Pack offers 'Troute' which traces the IP route from the local host to another host, 'Uptime' which shows the amount of time the local PC has been turned on, 'WhoAmI' which displays the user name of the current user logged into the machine, 'Whois' to query an Internet Whois server for domain name information and 'Wc' to count the number of words, lines, and characters in a specific file.
